Robert Piraino

Robert A. Piraino has wanted to be an attorney for as long as he can remember. Growing up, his father — a sole practitioner — was his hero and his model for what a lawyer should be. At five years old, he understood instinctively what his father did each day: he helped people fix their problems. More than that, his father prided himself on standing up for the “little guy” — the individual, the small business owner, the person who needed a fierce advocate in their corner. From that moment on, Robert made that same purpose his own. That drive carried him to the University of Michigan, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2008, and through Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 2012. Since being admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 2014, Robert has built a practice spanning more than a decade — representing individuals and small businesses throughout Michigan, taking on insurance companies that wrongfully deny or delay benefits, and serving as a tireless champion for justice on behalf of every client who walks through his door. It was a gift from a client he represented early in his career — a man with a big personality, a bigger sense of humor, and a very specific vision for how he wanted his final affairs handled. Before they said their goodbyes, the client presented Robert with the fedora — one just like the fedora the client said was worn by his childhood hero. “You were my hero today,” he said. “I want you to have this.”

Robert has never forgotten that moment — not because it was dramatic, but because of what it taught him. The best lawyers are not simply the ones who know the law — they are the ones who take the time to truly understand what their client needs, take them seriously, and channel every ounce of their skill and determination into making it happen. That is what Robert has strived to be for every client since.
